New Zealand road awareness

Road Alert

Background road alerts for drivers who need to know what is ahead before they reach it.

What it does

Driver awareness without turning the app into navigation.

Reports ahead

Shows active community and official reports near the road ahead, with refresh controls and report age visible in the app.

Background alerts

Uses location permission and notifications to alert drivers near relevant road events, even when the app is not open.

Weigh station awareness

Alerts approaching drivers near known weigh station locations and asks for good-faith open or closed confirmation after passing.

Community feedback

Lets users report incidents, flag incorrect locations, and send suggestions that can be reviewed by Road Alert operations.

Safety first

Built for awareness, not interaction while driving.

Road Alert is a driver awareness tool. Alerts may be delayed, inaccurate, incomplete, or unavailable. Drivers must always follow road signs, official directions, Police instructions, posted speed limits, and commercial driving obligations.

No driving interaction Reports should be submitted by a passenger or only when safely stopped and legally parked.
Good-faith reporting False, unsafe, abusive, or private information can be moderated, archived, or removed.
Official directions win The app does not replace road signs, emergency services, transport agencies, or legal obligations.

Data and privacy

Clear about location use.

Road Alert uses location data to compare a device position with alert locations and to attach coordinates to reports submitted by users. Road Alert does not sell personal data.
